Hungry Waters
Scheduled to be published in Autumn of 2025 by Knight Errant Press under the pen name L.N. Andreas, Hungry Waters is my debut novella.
Set in 1861, this story is told through the diary of Julian Clarke, an autistic trans man who has decided to escape his old life by accepting the position of a lighthouse keeper's assistant on a fictional island off the north of Scotland. His only companion on the remote station is the more experienced light-keeper Cornelius Blair, who, however, also carries his own secrets.
Julian uncovers that Cornelius lives in constant fear of an unknowable monster hiding in the depths of the Atlantic ocean. The two keepers slowly learn how to trust each other and work together to keep the monster at bay, while also falling in love. Historical fiction with a dash of cosmic horror and romance.
The novella takes the form of an illustrated diary, with two of the illustrations revealed below.
